Sly Monay Fashion releases the innovative ''Cravat Masterpiece: Afro-European collection Featuring Juliet Ibrahim, OC Ukeje, Bryan Okwara etc The Fashion forward, innovative brand has yet again released a first of its kind masterpiece for the native line. This collection was inspired by looking at the African culture or way of life, style, innovation and taking the Nigerian fashion to the next level. Sly Monay Fashion becomes the first fashion brand to ever infuse the use of the cravat tie on African/Native attires, hence The Cravat Masterpiece : Afro-European collection. Oleku – Old school Fashion Trending Oleku is the Iro and Buba from the 60’s. It is a wrapper(Iro) tied to reach just above the knee and a short sleeve Buba hand. In fact it is what you can call a mini- wrapper just like what is known as a mini skirt. Modern day ladies used to make fun of the older generation when viewing photos of their mum’s Oleku attire including yours sincerely(me). But its amazing how we have now found the oleku style tasteful in modern times. It is now a fashion statement at various occasions. Oleku is a smart way of wearing the Buba and Iro attire which was traditionally worn elegantly by tying the wrapper to reach the ankle in length and the Buba is worn as a long sleeve. The length of the wrapper might still be big in size , all the wearer has to do is to stylishly tie it to the preferred length above the knee. There are different fabrics that can be used to sew the Oleku style. Fabrics like lace, ankara, Aso ofi would do jus...

For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by Traditional African attire. All the different fabrics, patterns, colors and shapes always caught my eyes from an early age. My Grandmother has always been a seamstress so a lot of ladies at church would often come to her for their traditional gowns. At times I would sit with her by the sewing machine and help her with cutting fabrics and measuring clients and its safe to say that I was a natural, well according to my Grandmother anyway but hey what else is she meant to say? perhaps she was just using me ...
